Hours of Operation
Before-Care services are provided each school day from 6:15 a.m. until 7:15 a.m. Students arriving after 7:15 a.m. will report to the bus port and will not receive breakfast. Students report in full uniform.
After-Care services are provided each school day from the close of school until 6:00 p.m. Staff members are employed only until 6:00 p.m. We request that parents respect the time of closure. A late fee of $1.00 per minute will be assessed after 6:00 p.m.
When severe weather conditions or other emergency situations dictate the closure of school, the After-Care program is also closed. The Before-Care and After-Care programs are closed during the school holidays.

Location of Service

Before-Care is provided in the school cafeteria. Parents will walk students into the cafeteria through the back parking lot gates. All Before-Care students must be signed in by their parent each morning. Do not drop off Before-Care students at the bus port. There will be no one at the location to monitor them.
After-Care is held in the Main Building, Junior High Building, and the cafeteria.

After-Care Homework
Supervision is provided for students to complete homework. Parents should indicate their wishes regarding homework on the After-Care registration form. It is the student’s responsibility to know his/her assignments and to bring the needed materials. It is also the parent’s responsibility to check that all homework assignments are done. Before-Care and After-Care do not have keys to unlock classroom doors if students forget items. It is the student’s responsibility to make sure they have everything needed to complete homework prior to checking into After-Care.

Behavior
Students are expected to be respectful of one another, the staff and school property. The rules of the school governing student behavior are applicable to the After-Care and Before-Care Program. Consequences include, but are not limited to, loss of privileges, detention, or even suspension. Corporal punishment is not used.
Safety
The safety of the children enrolled is of primary concern. How and with whom a child leaves the After-Care premises is one of the most important regulations. Parents are encouraged to call After-Care from their cell phones to identify themselves when darkness or inclement weather hinders visibility of the road from the cafeteria. A child will not be sent to a vehicle until the parents are positively identified.
Children may not change their normal after school arrangements themselves. Changes must be made by the parents in writing addressed to after-care or by a phone call. You may contact Director Bonnie Champagne at 332-2234 for any arrangements which need to be made or changed concerning After-Care. You may also contact SBS office between 7:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. at 332-5350 or SBS After-Care between the hours of 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. at 332-5900.
Parents/guardians should not take students from the school campus without notifying members of the After-Care staff. Only authorized persons will be allowed to pick up students. Release will not be granted without the specific written permission of the parent.

Medical Considerations
In cases which appear to be minor, first aid will be administered. For more serious cases, the providers will follow the instructions as outlined on the After-Care registration form and the Emergency forms in the SBS Office. If the home does not supply adequate emergency instructions, or if the instructions given cannot be followed at the time of the emergency, the After-Care staff will act according to their best judgment for the welfare of the child.
